DAVID P. JOHNSON graduated from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration in 1978. From 1978 through 1980 he was an auditor with the then “Big Eight: accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst in Detroit, Michigan and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Michigan in 1980. In 1983, he graduated from Wayne State University Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan. From 1983 through 1985 he was a tax attorney with the then “Big Eight” accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Jacksonville, Florida, was admitted to the Florida Bar and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida. From 1985 through 1989, he was a Trust Officer with Northern Trust Bank in Sarasota, Florida.

In 1989 he entered into the private practice of law. In 1992 he received both his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations from The American College.

He has been recognized as both a Board Certified Wills, Trusts & Estates Lawyer and a Board Certified Tax Lawyer by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education as having special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in the areas of wills, trusts & estates and tax law, as well as character, ethics and a reputation for professionalism in the practice of law, and being an expert in his field.
